Robert Hughes

Founder – Global Rally and RallyMoto

Robert Hughes is the founder of Global Rally and the Cannonball 300 Drivers Club. Robert is the driving force behind the Cannonball and MilleGT event concepts. With a deep passion for motorsport, navigation, and endurance challenges, Robert has spent years developing modern rally experiences that combine cutting-edge digital technology with the spirit of classic road and off road navigation events using roadbook.

Robert’s vision is to make rally-style roadbook navigation and endurance driving accessible, safe, and rewarding, without the cost and barriers of traditional motorsport. Through Global Rally, he has pioneered the use of digital roadbooks, GPS-based scoring, and remote rally formats, allowing drivers and riders to take part in professionally run events on their own terms.

His focus is on precision over speed, community over competition, and creating events that people want to return to year after year.


Bill Lightstone

Event Director

Bill Lightstone brings extensive experience in event management, logistics, and participant experience to the Cannonball and MilleGT team. As Event Director, Bill is responsible for turning ideas into reality — ensuring that every route, schedule, and event day runs smoothly and professionally.

With a strong background in organising motorsport-style and automotive events, Bill is passionate about delivering well-structured, enjoyable, and safe experiences for all participants. He works closely with route designers, technical teams, and venues to ensure that every Cannonball and MilleGT event meets the highest standards.

Bill’s attention to detail and calm, methodical approach help create events that feel welcoming for first-time participants while still offering a serious challenge for experienced drivers and riders.
